Located in the northeast corner of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, the Eidem Homestead is a 15 acre living history farm which depicts Minnesota farm life, circa 1890-1910. The farm was first homesteaded over a century ago and was owned by the Eidem family for 82 years. Today, the Eidem homestead is a beautifully preserved record of a way of life in times gone by, transporting you back to when Brooklyn Park was one of the nation’s top potato growing areas. Our mission is to preserve and interpret a late 19th century potato farm by exploring the site’s heritage through educational programs and public events. Following the seasonal schedule of working on a farm, we focus on the customs of the period, from daily work to leisure time. In today’s technological progressive society and this rapidly growing suburban area, the Eidem Homestead stands as a legacy of 1900’s rural America. A visit to our farm will introduce you to the people, places and events that have shaped our community and the world in which we live today.
