Spring on the Farm

Saturday, May 5  |  10-1 pm

Help Farmer Eidem and Spud Olson plant our garden and potato crop, sample fresh baked items in the kitchen, make a card for Mom, and greet the new baby animals.  Kids, get creative and helps name our cow by entering our annual Name the Cow contest.

Also, come learn about the future of Eidem Homestead! Hear about what changes are being discussed as part of the 10-year master plan; what new programs, amenities and facilities could happen, and see preliminary concepts for the site. Talk with City staff and consultants to provide input on initial concept plans and learn how you can help secure the future of Eidem Homestead.

Join us for a day of spring festivities and tell us what you think the future of Eidem should look like.

Daily Life on the Farm

Every other Wednesday, June 13 – August 23 | 12-3 pm                                                                                                                                                      4th Saturday of June, July, August  | 10-1 pm

Saddle cleaningDiscover what happens during a typical day on the farm.  Visitors can help with daily chores, explore the grounds and barnyard, or simply stop by for a chat and enjoy the afternoon breeze.  Neighbors and friends are always welcome!

Cost: $5 at the door, kids 4 and under free.

 


Stories from the Porch

Make story time unique with a visit to the farm!  Children’s stories that both entertain and teach kids are read off the kitchen porch followed with time to play on the grounds and visit with the farm animals.  Morning and evening sessions are offered seasonally.

Day Story time

Tuesdays, June 19, July 10, 17, 24, August 7, 14 & 21 | 10-12 pm

Reading of children’s stories start at 10:15 and 11 am followed with playtime in the barnyard until 12 pm.  Pack a chair or blanket, listen to stories by our storytellers, then enjoy playing on the farm.  Snacks available for purchase.

Evening Story time

Tuesdays, June 27, July 31, August 28 | 7-8 pm

Come in your jammies, bring your blankets and join us for a peaceful farmyard evening listening to bedtime stories then say goodnight to the animals.

Fall on the Farm

It’s harvest time on the farm!  There’s plenty of fun to be had as you experience harvesting the garden, pressing cider, fall goodies cooked in the kitchen, and hay rides around the farm.  Come learn what it meant to “put up” for the winter.

Norwegian Christmas

Saturday, December 1 & Sunday, December 2 |  1-4 pmChristmas tree

Celebrate the yule-tide season with some old-fashioned festivities and Norwegian traditions!  Sing along with carolers, make an ornament or gift, watch Christmas treats being made on the wood stove, try out your kick sledding skills, and visit with St. Nick.
